If your pet goes missing it can be a very distressing experience but there are a number of things you can do to try and locate them:

Make sure you thoroughly search your property - check in cupboards, under the house, in sheds and garages.  Also ask your neighbours to check their sheds and garages.
Ask as many of your neighbours as possible if they have seen your pet. Take a picture of your pet with you to show your neighbours
Remember an animal can sometimes wander a long way from home, so put flyers in letterboxes.  See below for details to include in flyers.

Go to www.lostpet.co.nz - this is free to use
Register the animal as lost. This can be renewed weekly if required.
Check the Found pets section – whenever possible animals brought into us will be listed here for 7 days. If you think we have registered your pet, please call us on 06-7582053

If possible include a photo of your pet on the poster
Make sure your poster clearly states 'LOST' and that you include more than one contact phone number and when and where you lost your pet.
